Los ultimos santos

hola hola mis amigos maravillosos!!!! que pasa??

this week has been un poco loco but super good!!

small plates:

-invited our friend Jenny to be baptized and she said she would!!! we don't have a date yet, but we're praying we can set one soon so we have a goal to work towards because she is so awesome.

-had a bomb lesson with Javier about dispensations and spent 1.5 hours talking about every single dispensation and the prophet head and what was important about each one hahaha but it was good because he was confused about why Joseph Smith is significant and so this helped him a ton. aaaand was a good segway into how we have a living prophet who is going to speak to us next weekend (general conference baby!!!) and definitely slipped an invite for that in there. 2 birds with one stone. gotta love the gospel

-played pictionary to help Selvin understand the gospel and he drew the most beautiful picture of what he believes repentance is. I'll include a pic because literally all of us were just in awe when he flipped the board around because his picture is so sincere. his explanation was that repentance is a blessing and a chance to become better. literally love this man with my whole heart

large plates:

-selvin gave me an old pencil as a gift and was so excited about it. my heart

-another 60 year old man who is married with grandkids hardcore flirted with us this week. sometimes thats how it be

-funny story. selvin always calls our church "La iglesia de Jesucristo de los ultimos santos" or the church of jesus christ of the last saints and hermana Jackson and I love saying it as a joke, but she accidentally called the church that in a lesson this week and NEITHER OF US EVEN NOTICED. were gonna get struck down one of these days for our jokes hahaha

-started making a cheesecake for a members birthday at 9:30 when we got home and went right on til midnight and then died the next day hahaha

-fed MINUATURE CATTLE!!!! they're literally the cow version of shetland ponies and theyre adorable. funniest moment was when the elders accidentally threw the football and it landed right in front of all of them and Elder Gilbert was horrified because the football is made from "the skin of their deceased brethren"

scripture of the week

1 Nephi 21: 14-16

14 But, behold, Zion hath said: The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me—but he will show that he hath not.

15 For can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee, O house of Israel.

16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

this scripture is absolutely incredible... and pro tip: if you replace 'zion' and 'house of Israel' with your own name, it makes it 10000x more powerful. He will not forget you. He has literal symbols of His love for you in His hands, His feet, His side... He loves you more than you can comprehend. we shared this scripture a few times this week because so many people need just that simple message of Christ's love.

I love you all so much!!! i hope you all have such an amazing week and an amazing CONFERENCE WEEKEND!!! sorry that this email is so short and not very exciting!!!!!

con amor,

hermana hess
