Updates from your favorite horse girl

ALO A TODOS!!!!!! literally such a freaking good week here in federal way :)))

small plates:

-even though we can't tract, there are so many people here that are ready to listen. we've been going down to the beach and to parks to just talk with all the folks and have actually given out our number to a lot of people!! we met this dude named Barack from Iraq and ended up talking to him about the book of mormon and joseph smith for about an hour. he definitely started the conversation by asking me out, but we had a wonderful turnaround and we actually gave him a book of mormon at the end hahaha. we met lots of fun people this week which is awesome sauce! i think we've helped a lot of people see that missionaries are just real people because i've given up on trying to be super formal in conversation because that is just not me, so we've started like sprinting up to people or yelling compliments at them. i think it definitely gave a lot of people a better taste in their mouth of what they think missionaries are. i love talking to people and lowkey freaking them out haha

-our members here are few in number, but they are SO STRONG. like they are all so incredible and have already helped us feel so welcome which is the best thing ever. since my companion is hispanic, the members automatically like us a lot more so it's been super fun to meet a good chunk of them this week (we're definitely the favorite companionship of sisters in the branch hehe)

large plates:

-we are officially spending a transfer in a hotel and we survived the first week! they told us that we'd have free breakfast, free laundry and a gym and all the goods that come with a hotel, but they most definitely lied haha. we still only have a minifridge and a microwave and so we have been surviving off of sandwiches and cup o noodles, but luckily this is a good excuse for us to get in to the houses of the members and have them feed us ;) on the bright side, they do all our cleaning for us and the queen beds are extremely comfortable

-so. first day with my lil baby, we accidentally drove out of the mission and accidentally drove right through downtown seattle (very much outside of the mission and VERY BIG no no)... whoopsie. we both were screaming the entire time through the city because we didn't realize until it was too late hahahaha good times

-another fun story: we had to go to the mission office to get our hotel key and SIM card and all that jazz so we drove all the way up there without GPS and then on the way back, we ran out of gas, my phone died and my charger doesn't work and the other phone doesn't read the SIM so we spent like 2 hours driving around bellevue looking for a freaking gas station or trying to find wifi so we could use the functioning phone to find gas. it was a mess hahaha but we survived because we are so strong

-spent 5 hours at the airport trying to pick up all the new babies coming in and just had transfers part 2 where you just hangout and chat with all the missionary buddies hahaha

-my cute companion was originally called to Montreal speaking french so she's been trying to keep up her french while i have an hour to study spanish, but i have decided i'm gonna learn french while i'm with her so i'm definitely gonna be trilingual at the end of this transfer. nbd. mais l'espagnol est le meilleur encore

-we found a homeless dude living in our church hahahahahahah. we didn't run into him in person, but we went over there by ourselves to use the kitchen and found a whole bunch of trash in the kitchen, including empty cigarette boxes and corona bottles and there were some pillows on the couch so that was a phat yikes lol. our church apparently has had lots of homeless people problems cause it's not in the nicest area, but i guess now is the perfect time to live in the church cause no one has been in there for like 5 months haha. the best part of the story has to be the fact that hermana zacarias and I walked around the church with butter knifes as protection because neither of us have pepper spray. innovation at its finest

anywho, pray for us that we can find those whom the Lord has prepared!!!!! we're working hard, but it's still hard to find without being able to knock doors

LES QUIEROOOOOOOOOOOO QUE TENGAN UNA SEMANA MARAVILLOSA

con amor,

hermana hess
